Penny & Gerald are a remarkable couple with a remarkable love story.

They met in Darfur, Africa on a mission working for the Red Cross, where there was no running water, no electricity, no transport, nothing except 130,000 refugees struggling to survive under makeshift tarpaulin homes.

Their mutual passion for humanitarian work had drawn them from opposite sides of the earth…Penny from Australia, Gerald from Belgium. A decadent offering of Belgium chocolates from Gerald one day inspired a conversation that I believe will continue for a lifetime…they found each other, and love…and it is a beautiful love.

On their wedding day, it was the way he looked at her, and the way she looked back that really took my breath away. I can’t describe the emotion…but you will see it in the images below. Thank you Jonas for capturing the essence of this powerful love.

If I was to describe their wedding, I would say amazing in every way that they embraced their day, and how they built a wedding design that reflected their passions in life…a beach ceremony at Hidden Grove Noosa, followed by a reception dinner party under the stars at Lake Weyba Cottages…eclectic, rustic, bohemian, relaxed, cosy, romantic, surrounded by nature and their close family and friends…very emotional…but also full of fun, laughter and lots of love.

The ceremony at Hidden Grove…lots of smiles and excitement…

The photo shoot at Lake Weyba Cottages…vintage VW’s thanks to Penny’s family…the Carmen Ghia found locally (Penny’s favourite car)…and a mustard balloon just for fun…

That amazing bouquet by Mondo Floral Designs featured apricot David Austin roses, lavender, open coral Areeba roses, pale purple Hydrangea, and coral Alstromaria, gardenia foliage, Molucca balm, and geranium…all bound in raffia and natural twine…it was stunning!

The sit down dinner party “under the stars”, featuring exposed lightbulbs, and an Al Fresco dining experience by Spoonfed Catering. Bottlefed looked after all the refreshments. This dynamic Spoonfed/Bottlefed duo were amazing! A yummy two tier chocolate mud cake with fresh berries made by Cake Designs. After dinner, the guests made the most of an outdoor dance floor, when all heels were kicked off and the party and fun continued…
